Dr. Essel Ben Hagan is a research scientist, former president of the Ghana Institution of Engineers and the current head of the Institute of Industrial Research. Before his appointment in 2004 as director of IIR,Dr. Hagan served as deputy director of Ghana’s Building & Road Research Institute for 34 years. Essel Ben Hagan holds a PhD in Mechanical Engineering (Energy Demand Analysis and Modeling), MSc. in Chemical Engineering (Process Analysis and Development) and BSc. in Chemical Technology. His research interests include renewable energy technologies and policy development. Dr. Hagan co-authored the book “Biomass Conversion and Technology,” one of the internationally-recognized textbooks for the UNESCO Energy Engineering Series. He is a regular Visiting Scientist at the Environmental Energy Technologies Division, Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, University of California Berkeley, California, USA. He is also a Member of the Editorial Board of Environmental Research Letters, an open-access journal on environmental science. |
